FAQs

How do I sign up for a Mini Session?

Click on "Book A Mini Session" in my navigation menu.

Do you require a retainer?

Yes. Mini sessions must be paid in full at the time of booking. Other sessions require a 50% nonrefundable retainer due at booking.

What is your cancellation policy?

My cancellation policies vary depending on what session you book. I am more strict with mini sessions. If you cancel a mini session, you will only receive a full refund if I am able to find a replacement for your time slot. If you cancel and I am unable to rebook your spot, you will receive a partial refund only, and I keep the rest to offset the lost business.

With other sessions, generally speaking, if you need to reschedule for any reason (including illness), your rescheduled session must take place within two weeks of your original date. If you do not rebook within a two-week time frame, I will keep your retainer to offset the lost business.

Whenever you book a session with me, everything will be very clearly explained during the booking process. You will be required to sign an agreement indicating you've read, understand, and agree to my policies before any payment is collected.

Can I get extra images?

There are so many variables that contribute to the overall number of photos I can get during any one session (for example: time allotment, kids' temperament, number of people to pose, pets, and so on). There are also variables in the editing process that may dictate how many photos I deliver. On my price sheet, I've designated an average number of images to give you an idea of how many images to expect after your session. As I sort through the photos from your session, I will choose which photos to edit. I ALWAYS try to include several extras!! But I cannot guarantee extras, and I ask you to trust my judgment during the selection and editing process. Every session is different!

When is the best time of day to schedule an outdoor session?

One hour before sunset generally offers the most flattering light. This is known as "golden hour". However, that is contingent upon the weather forecast! If you have kids, you should really consider when they are usually at their best and schedule your session during that time frame. I have experience working in all types of lighting environments, so I'd strongly encourage you to schedule your session when it's most convenient for you versus basing it around lighting (which can be unpredictable).

Where should we do our photos?

I typically use local parks for custom family sessions. I will send you my location guide upon booking and offer suggestions based on your feedback, but we are not limited to my recommendations. If you have a really creative idea, or a place not on my list, I'm all ears.

What happens if it's going to rain during our scheduled session?

If it’s going to rain during your session, we will reschedule. I always watch the hourly forecast and will encourage you to wait until the last possible minute to make this decision with me as the weather in Cincinnati is horribly unpredictable.

What should we wear?

Great question! Lots of families go dressy casual, but it's really up to you. Pinterest is a great place to go for inspiration if you want a more curated look. If you go to my website's navigation, I have a page full of wardrobe advice.

Do you retouch our photos?

Yes. I utilize the very best editing technology as well as my 10 years of experience to remove temporary blemishes like pimples, scratches, uneven skin tones, drool, and bruises, but I will not distort your physical appearance in any way or alter clothing. If you have any requests, please let me know in advance.

Things to consider: Try to choose clothes that do not wrinkle easily. If you have a pet that sheds, use a lint roller before your session or choose a shirt color that will hide the hair. Use hair clips, headbands, or hair product to keep flyaways out of your eyes. Remove chipped nail polish, faded temporary tattoos, etc.

Wear clothing that you feel is flattering on your body type and that you feel good in. It's more important to feel confident in the moment than to rely on editing.

When will our photos be ready?

Galleries will be sent via email within 2 weeks of your session unless otherwise noted. You can expect a longer wait time in October and November as those are my busiest months.

Where can I print my photos?

You can print your photos directly from your online gallery! Click "Print Store" in the upper right hand corner, or use the shopping bag icon next to your images to order prints from one of my favorite high quality print labs (Mpix). I offer all kinds of sizes and paper options.

If you want to print your photos on your own, I personally recommend uploading your images to Mpix.com.

Can we bring pets to our session?

Generally, yes! Some locations do not allow animals, but as long as pets are allowed wherever we're meeting, you are welcome to bring them! Please keep them on a leash and bring doggy bags for waste.

What payment methods do you accept?

I accept debit and credit cards, Venmo, PayPal, cash, or check.

Are you willing to travel?

ALWAYS! I'm reasonable when it comes to travel fees, so reach out if you're curious.

Do you photograph adoptions?

Yes! I charge $150 for complete coverage of adoption proceedings in Hamilton County or NKY.

Photographing families is my bread and butter.

I have over 10 years of experience corralling, distracting, engaging, entertaining, and surprising kids of all ages. I love working with families in any capacity.
